BIOGRAPHY BY VALENTIN SAVTCHEKO
I was born in the city of flowers and beautiful women. The sun that shone over my city, Rostov-on-Don, opened my eyes to life and gave me strength. The year 1955 was my birthday for my parents and the tenth anniversary of the victory over fascism for my country.
On March 2nd, the day I was born, the obstetrician said upon seeing me, "This little boy was not born in a white shirt but with a paintbrush," because there was a lock of hair on my head that predestined me for painting.
My first steps in art were taken at art school because, on the day of the exam, I drew a stuffed black crow with glass eyes better than anyone else, which allowed me to advance directly to the second year. Once, I tried to draw a still life of oranges on black velvet, but despite all the care I took to reproduce the vibrant colors of those oranges, vividly illuminated by the sun, my efforts were in vain. Then I understood that I would first have to learn to draw the sun before the oranges. Every day I drew the sun, after which my eyes could no longer see anything, and I saw the sun as a large black spot. This blinding effect disappeared thanks to God and humankind.
After reading about Van Gogh's life, I realized I wasn't the only one trying to understand the mysteries of the sun, but I vowed not to cut off my ears like he did.
My studies and hard work at the former Imperial Academy of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg, now the Russian Academy of Fine Arts, gave me the opportunity to copy the drawings of Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Ivanov. Even at night, I dreamed of arms, feet, ears, and faces.
One night in 1982, something like an explosion of light happened within me. I jumped up and started scribbling something on a canvas until I passed out. The next morning, I saw my first painting, "Mirror."
My passion for Filonov and his system led to major disagreements with my professors at the Academy, who told me that if I continued to draw like that, my children would go hungry, etc. So, I left the Academy and continued my experiments. My "Sens-Art" (Art Sensibility) system, as I conceive it, is a development of "Russian Cosmism," which follows in the tradition of the thoughts of Filonov, Kandinsky, and Malevich. That is to say, it considers the cosmos as a new measure, since space and the energetic manifestation of the human spirit in the Universe become objects of the image.
May God help me to undertake this task!
WHAT IS SENS-ART?
MEANING is the magical force that arises from different materials. Sometimes, man cannot conceive what it is or where it comes from, but it is clear that it is this energy that sets in motion all processes, both at the biological level and the conscious level.
MEANING is the energy of nature, of light, of heat, of sound... It is the influence of shapes, colors, of rhythm on the emotional system, on creative imagination and on the viewer's understanding of a work of art.
Man is a creature capable of harnessing this energy both in his subconscious and in creation. Already at the beginning of this century, Kandinsky demonstrated the necessity of studying this phenomenon as the primary direction for understanding the creative process.
KANDINSKY, MALEVICH and FILONOV were the first to discover, in different ways, the philosophy of cosmic space in pictorial art.
* KANDINSKI constructed his cosmos of meaning like urban planning writing with metaphysical signs.
* MALEVICH presented it as geometric space.
* FILONOV, for his part, presented it as a microstructure containing the entire cosmos of consciousness.
For me, the cosmos of meaning is the energy of sensations. It is to consider cosmic space as a new measure, since space and the energetic manifestation of the human spirit become objects of the image. A painter, for me, is a receiving antenna that perceives all spatial and energetic processes.ethics and it is these new cosmic dimensions of knowledge that I try to create in my painting.
Only painting with new cosmic dimensions will transmit the energy of the cosmos.
SENS-ART is art that teaches meaning, space and the energy of the cosmos.
